Case studies and testimonials

Problem Statement
Insurance companies observed the need for a supplier development programme in the automotive/ auto repair industry. They later involved Financial Service Provider (Insure) as a sponsor.

  • They wanted to understand the challenges and determine how to widen the scope of participation of entrepreneurs in the industry.

  • We were contracted to provide a range of business support services to the beneficiaries, including:
    1. Pre-assessment process
    2. Due diligence and baseline assessments
    3. Business Development plans
  • Performed a business growth assessment and served our expertise on Sales Coaching and business support for motor body repairer (MBR), plumbing and electrical service providers
    start-ups.

  • Pre-assessed potential plumbing and maintenance SME’s for viability of their business acumen onto the programme taking into account HR, Financial Management, business practice compliance, operational efficiency and SHEQ.

  • This collaboration offered a standardized process for supplier application and selection, to facilitate SME access to the respective repair supply chains.

Multimedia Enterprise Development Programme (mentorship and turn-around coaching)

  • Problem Statement: A veteran caterer who now operates a state of the art mobile kitchen trailer provides an average home cooked traditional meal for the busy business and industrial worker, ranging from steak and starch to grilled chicken with salad, hot sauces, tripe and trotter dishes.

  • The business needed to guidance with setup and compliance, as well as general management issues.

  • Engagement included assistance with company registration, formulating life cover and commercial insurance pre-requirements, as well as HR advise and sourcing storage space for the food trailer.

  • Mentorship also focused on interviewing skills for the hiring process for assistant/cashier candidates and job profiling and application review skills.

  • The owner was provided with training and guidance on trade permit and gas regulation requirements.

  • After basic financial training the owner could later understand basic financial literacy functions such as preparation sheets, daily check sheet, cash up and float sheet.

  • Impact: 3 new jobs created, learning opportunity is provided to a black youth school leaver.

    * Increased revenue significantly per month.

  • All necessary accounting systems were actively implemented after coaching sessions were held.

Mining company Mentorship Programme (mentorship and turn-around coaching)

  • Problem Statement: Mining company provides loan funding to SME’s via a number of funds. The organisation acknowledges that there is a need to provide SME’s with
non-financial support, in order to maximise the opportunity for SME success and the repayment of the loan funding provided.

  • Solution: assisted an ED provider to provide a range of business development support services to their funded enterprises (beneficiaries) with full service mentorship programme, including:

    1. Business mentorship and tailored coaching

    2. Accounting and financial management services

    3. Leadership, Project Management Consulting and Strategy Development

  • Our teams have coached a fresh produce logistics provider on sales growth and profitability and this had enabled their manufacturing division to secure a multi million rand contract with electricity service provider for 3 years.

  • Provided consulting in project accounting and financial reporting to a data automation firm and this had improved their profitability reporting on their mining projects and a more informed project selection criteria due to a clearer NPV.
